Army deserters can obtain their legal release from December 12 to 31 at the Panagoda Bodhirajarama Viharaya.

Addressing the media yesterday at the MCNS, Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said necessary arrangements have been made for the Army deserters in the second phase to be legally released from the Army.

"They can present themselves to the Panagoda Bodhirajarama Viharaya from December 12 to 31," he added.

He said during the first phase 20,597 Army deserters obtained legal release.

Brigadier Nanayakkara noted that nearly 6,000 youths enlisted in the Army in the fourth stage of recruitment. "There was a good response from youth to join the Army and the recruitment process is successfully continuing", he added.
