TID probes into customs arrest
The Terrorist Investigations Department (TID) is continuing investigations into the arrest of two customs officers early this week for releasing goods belonging to the LTTE in 2004, stating that the suspects had directly carried out instructions from the LTTE Chief.

Another weapons haul
Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe said troops continued operations at Mundampiddy, Adampan, Murusumadu, Anichiyankulam and Vellamullivaikkal on Tuesday. They recovered one T-56 weapon and another damaged T 56 weapon, one Rangan 99 anti personnel mine, six hand grenades, 28 Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), five RPG chargers, seven hundred and fifty 7.62 x 39 mm ammunition, twenty six 60mm mortar bombs, seven Arul bombs, eight RPG fuses, twenty-five 31 mm rounds, one AK 47 weapon, two claymore mines and four I-com communication sets.

Fonseka faces over five charges
*Court Martial soon after charges are filed
*Summary of evidence handed to Army Chief
Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe yesterday said more than five charges will be filed against former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka within a few days. This will done in compliance with the provisions of the Army Act before a Court Martial, he said.

LTTE weapons haul recovered in North and East, Explosives and uniforms among them:
The Army and Police Special Task Force (STF) seized a haul of weapons in the North and East during search and clear operations Saturday. The troops continuing the search and clear operations in Mullaitivu, Kumulamunai, Iranamadu, Kanchilamadu, Killinochchi, Paranthan, Palai, and Adampan recovered four anti personnel mines, 17, 60mm mortar bombs, five 81 mm mortar bombs, seven unidentified bombs, eight hand grenades, 11 claymore mines, one booby trap and 11, 120 mm mortar bombs, an Army official said.

Court martial soon for Sarath Fonseka: Summary of evidence on charges completed
The summary of evidence on the charges made against Sarath Fonseka has been completed and it will be handed over to the Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya this week, Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe said. The Army Commander will subsequently appoint the Court Martial.

President launches Coast Guard Force
President Mahinda Rajapaksa launched the Sri Lanka Coast Guard Force at a solemn ceremony at the Galle Harbour yesterday. This Coast Guard Force will protect the coastal belt around the country and maritime zone in extent of 21,700 square kilometres and maritime economic zone of 465,800 square kilometres within the country's territorial water.

STF, police seize hidden weapons haul
The Police Special Task Force together with Police have seized a haul of weapons during the past four days in Mullaitivu, Akkaraipattu and Valaichchenai hidden by the LTTE. Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that the STF found 2 claymore mines weighing 12.5 kg and 7 kg, a suicide kit, 9 torpedo bombs, 8 detonators, 2 decode wire rolls, 1 claymore wire roll, 2 claymore holders, a remote controller, 21 RPG bullets, 2,090 MPMG bullets, 1,500 bolt bullets, 129 GPMP bullets, 72 ammunition of 12.7 type, 20 kg of C-4 detonators, five T56 weapons, one weapon of 2.2 type, 6 mobile phones, six 60mm motors, 4 RPG chargers and 12 RPG bullets at Pudukudiyiruppu, Kariamulli Vaikkal and Kaiweli in Mullaitivu district.

Hicorp director’s statement to be recorded by Army
Fort Magistrate has given permission for the Sri Lanka Army to record a statement from Welington De Hoedt who is a director of the Hicorp Ltd. for the investigations that are underway on Rtd. Gen. Sarath Fonseka. The Magistrate gave consent to record a statement under the detention laws after a request by the Army. Hicorp Ltd. is allegedly the owned by Fonseka’s son-in-law Danuna Thilakarathne who is still absconding after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Army records more evidence
The Army has recorded evidence from 31 individuals regarding the case of General Sarath Fonseka (SF) who is presently in military custody, Major General Prasad Samarasinghe told Daily Mirror online. He added that the summary report was currently being prepared and that it will be presented to the Army Commander soon.
