Disgraced US athletics star Marion Jones, stripped of five medals from the 2000 Sydney Olympics, returned to sport on Wednesday, being named the newest player of the Women’s NBA Tulsa Shock. Tharindu Weranga from David Pieris Motor Co. Ltd., ‘B’ hogged the limelight, being the first centurion in the DSI Group sponsored ‘A’ trophy, MCA ‘F’ division 30 overs league tournament, which got underway last week end. German legend Franz Beckenbauer pleaded on Wednesday for the rules of football to be left as they are, warts and all, because refereeing errors can be part of the sport’s charm. “Leave football as simple and as clear as it is, together with all its mistakes,” Beckenbauer, a member of the executive committee of FIFA, the sport’s governing body, told the German daily Bild.
