SriLankan expands training program for Aircraft Technicians
SriLankan Airlines has expanded its training program for Aircraft Technicians, and is fast gaining a reputation as a centre of training for the aviation industry in South Asia. SriLankans Technical Training School currently has over 135 students in three batches training to commence rewarding careers as Aircraft Technicians. Among them are 26 international students from India, the Maldives, and Oman.

Oman Air commemorates operations to Sri Lanka
Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman commemorated its flights to Colombo today. The flights to this destination were launched in November last year with four weekly frequencies between Muscat, capital of the Sultanate of Oman and Colombo. To commemorate its new service, Oman Air officials will host a gala dinner on the 26th of February at the Cinnamon Grand for top officials and the country’s travel trade members, giving them the opportunity to interact with Oman Air’s top management.

SriLankan Airlines to fly to Kochi
SriLankan Airlines, the emerald isle’s flag carrier, plans to increase its flights to Indiathis year. The carrier will add a flight to Kochifrom Colombo, and is evaluating flights to Hyderabad andother destinations in the south, said Mohamed Fazeel, head of worldwide sales. It plans to start eight more flights from India this year. The carrier has ordered two Airbus A320s, which will be delivered this year.

Colombo can maintain hub status - CASA
The global downturn has had a significant impact on shipping worldwide. In fact now about 12 percent of the global fleet is idle that means 1.5 million TEUs are idle.
