Life's no beach for Greece's crisis-hit tourism sector
Visitors to the Greek stand at the ITB, the world's top tourism fair that opened Wednesday, could be forgiven for thinking the country is booming, not battling one of the worst crises in its history. "Come to Greece, we are waiting for you," said the glamorous Deputy Tourism Minister as a screen played images of shimmering turquoise seas, golden beaches and ancient monuments a far cry from the chaos and strikes of recent weeks.

Antipodes Voyages signs agreement : Over 5,000 French tourists to arrive in Sri Lanka
Antipodes Voyages of France Chairman Alain Clavel and Director Frank Manin arrived in Colombo as guests of the Galadari Hotel on Monday and were welcomed by Galadari Hotel General Manager Sampath Siriwardena and Chandana Ediriweera from Ceylon Tours. Antipodes Voyages recently signed an agreement with SriLankan Airlines to bring 5,000 French tourists from France for the 2010/11 seasons.

Tourism action plan for Eastern Province
A Tourism Development Action Plan for Eastern Province has been implemented by the Tourism Ministry aiming to boost the tourism sector in the province. This Action Plan has been signed by a three member committee of the Sri Lanka Tourism Board. The Tourism Ministry will take steps to organise 24 projects which are in the Action Plan into operation.

Tourists have voted with their feet - Lankan envoy in Brussels
The 32 percent increase in tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka in January 2010, over the corresponding period in 2009 indicates that “tourists to Sri Lanka have voted with their feet”, Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha said. Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union made this observation at the launch of the BELASIA annual travel fair in Brussels, Belgium last week.

Govt targets 2.5m tourists by 2016
